Sadly, Tarzan will swing off the stage for the last time at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Sunday, July 8. In a statement, Disney Theatrical’s Thomas Schumacher said: “I am disappointed that the Broadway production of Tarzan will close earlier than any of us had hoped, and I would have loved for it to have been as successful in New York as it is now in Holland. Despite this, Tarzan was the Broadway debut for two artists I have long admired and respected, and for this I am extremely proud. The opportunity to work again with the legendary Phil Collins, who expanded his film score for the stage production, and with Bob Crowley in his Broadway directorial debut has been hugely gratifying. I know that as we continue to produce Tarzan around the world, audiences will embrace it with as much enthusiasm as we put into creating it.” ( www.emotionaldirections.com/blog/?p=222)

I was so sad when I heard this (I found out a week before hand thanks to some inside sources) ...very upsetting I wanted to see it.

I'm really kicking myself now. I was in NY (well, not the city, just the state) a year ago, but I couldn't afford to go in to see it at the time.
I wish they'd given us more warning. I'd drop everything and fly out there in a second if I had the money.

Sorry it happened and having it disappont you fellow Tarzan fans. I never got to see it myself and hoped someday I could afford a trip in my life time to vacation in New York City to see the show as well as tour the city. Very sadly like the World Trade Center towers, it is now gone and will never be seen again.

I'm not going to give up hope that they might rework it and try again. Apparantly it's doing well overseas, so you never know...

I can see them putting the show on tour in the US. It was well worth it. I only saw it once, but it was amazing! I hesitated cuz I'm a poor college student and according to the reviews, I'd be better off staying at home, watching the movie and saving my money. But I decided to go and I'm really, really glad I did. I just regret waiting so long and the fact that I only saw it once. I mean, I've been a fan of the movie since it first came out so seeing it live, seeing the characters come to life and being a part of it was just a huge thrill. I really miss the show but I doubt we've seen the end of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did some tinkering with it and tried again. They already put so much effort in it not to keep trying.
I think the songs could use some work too. Some of them are alright, but there are a few that just don't fit well with the songs from the film.
